Sam Houston Elementary Earns TEA Distinctions

This is the image for the news article titled Sam Houston Elementary Earns TEA DistinctionsMarshall ISD’s Sam Houston Elementary School was awarded five academic distinctions from the Texas Education Agency with last week’s annual release of the TEA’s school accountability ratings.

Sam Houston, which serves as the district’s elementary STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Academy, earned the following designations: Academic Achievement in Science; Academic Achievement in English Language Arts/Reading; Post-Secondary Readiness; Top 25 Percent in Comparative Academic Growth; and Top 25 Percent in Comparative Closing the Gaps.

Overall, Sam Houston was rated as an “A” campus, with a 94 out of 100 grade in the latest TEA ratings. That was a four-point increase from the school’s grade over last year.

Overall, MISD improved to a “C” letter grade in the state accountability ratings and, for the first time in 11 years, had zero campuses on the TEA’s “Improvement Required” list. MISD and all of its campuses are now rated “Met Standard,” which is the highest rating available by the TEA.
