The members of the Marshall Independent School District Board of Trustees would like to welcome you to our MISD website. Regular Board meetings are held the third Monday of each month, with a special Board Meeting For Agenda Review held the Thursday prior to the regular Board Meeting.


cwilsonMRS. CHARLES WILSON
MISD TRUSTEE DISTRICT 1
Mrs. Charles Wilson was elected to the MISD Board of Trustees in 1990 and is currently serving in her 25th year on the school board. She served as Board Secretary from 1995-2007.

Mrs. Wilson is retired from American Norit Company. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Wiley College and also did additional studies at ETSU.

Mrs. Wilson currently serves as NAACP President and is chairman of the Harrison County Children's Service Board. She has served on the Marshall Image Advisory Board, Marshall Downtown Development Board and Lone Star Legal Aid Board. She was also appointed by the Governor of Texas to the Texas Hospital Equipment Council.



balexanderMRS. BARBARA ALEXANDER
MISD TRUSTEE DISTRICT 2
Mrs. Barbara Carraway Alexander is a Marshall native and a 1968 graduate of Pemberton High School. She currently serves as Assistant Board Secretary.

Mrs. Alexander holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business/Sociology from Wiley College and has earned continuing education credits from the University of Texas at Tyler in social work. Mrs. Alexander previously served on the MISD school board from 2000-2005, and was re-elected to the Board in 2011 for her current term.

Mrs. Alexander is a member of the National Association of Black School Educators, the Texas Association of Black School Educators, the East Texas Association of Black School Educators, and the Harrison County NAACP. She has also served as a mentor at Marshall High School.

Since 2000 Mrs. Alexander has worked as a social worker and investigator. She has also worked for Harrison County Indigent Health Care as a case worker.



hwarwickMRS. HELEN WARWICK
MISD TRUSTEE DISTRICT 3 - BOARD PRESIDENT
Mrs. Helen Warwick was elected to the MISD Board of Trustees in 2005. She was elected President of the Board in 2010 and continues to serve in that capacity. She has also served as Board Secretary from 2008-2010.

A native of Shreveport, La., Mrs. Warwick has lived in Marshall since 1986. She has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Masters of Education from Centenary College.

Mrs. Warwick tirelessly serves the Marshall community through various volunteer work and is heavily involved with local, state and national PTA organizations. She has served in many leadership positions for PTA from Marshall ISD campus levels, to City Council PTA, Area 13 PTA and even the Texas state PTA board. She has also done volunteer work for Junior Achievement and the Girls Scouts, which granted her an Outstanding Leader Award.

In 2014, Mrs. Warwick earned designation as a Master Trustee by the Texas Association of School Boards. In January 2015 she has been chosen as one of 36 school board trustees from Texas to participate in the 2016 Advocacy Institute in Washington, D.C.



bhowlettMR. BRAD HOWLETT
MISD TRUSTEE DISTRICT 4
Mr. Brad Howlett is a native of Marshall and a 1983 graduate of Marshall High School. He later received his degree in Business from East Texas Baptist University.

Mr. Howlett is serving, or has served, the Marshall community through organizations such as the United Way, Marshall-Harrison County Literacy Council, Marshall Rotary, Boy Scouts of America, and the Greater Marshall Chamber of Commerce.

Since 2003, Mr. Howlett has worked as a financial advisor for Edward Jones in Marshall.



cpalmerMR. CHASE PALMER
MISD TRUSTEE DISTRICT 5
Mr. Chase Palmer is a 1992 graduate of Marshall High School, where he played football for the Mavericks. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Baylor University in 1996 and a Juris Doctorate from Baylor University School of Law in 1998.

In 1999, Mr. Palmer returned home to Marshall to practice law with his father at the Palmer Law Firm, Inc. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Good Shepherd Medical Center-Marshall and was recently appointed as a member of the Main Street Advisory Committee. Mr. Palmer has also served on the Board of Directors for Marshall Depot, Inc., the Starr Family State Historical Site, the Harrison County Preservation Council, and the CASA of Harrison County.



bburrisMR. BRAD BURRIS
MISD TRUSTEE MEMBER AT-LARGE
Mr. Brad Burris was elected to the Board in May of 2010. He currently serves as Board Secretary.

Mr. Burris is the owner of Century 21-A Select Group of Marshall. He is a 1995 graduate of Marshall High School and later graduated from East Texas Baptist University in 2001 with a degree in Business Administration. Mr. Burris has also chaired the Real Estate division of the Harrison County United Way, has been involved with Junior Achievement and has served as a mentor at Carver Elementary through the "Adopt-A-School" program at his church.



cmarshallMRS. CATHY MARSHALL
MISD TRUSTEE MEMBER AT-LARGE
Mrs. Cathy Marshall was elected to the MISD Board of Trustees in 2010. She serves as Board Vice President.

Mrs. Marshall defines herself by faith, family and a lifelong love for education. Born and raised in Georgia, she attended Baylor University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. Mrs. Marshall has a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and a Mid-Management Certification from Stephen F. Austin State University.

Mrs. Marshall taught school in Pine Tree ISD and worked as a consultant at Region VII Education Service Center before serving as principal for 17 years at Price T. Young Middle School in Marshall ISD.
