This is the image for the news article titled Facility Upgrades, Roof Replacement ApprovedMarshall ISD’s Board of Trustees unanimously approved a litany of facility upgrades at Marshall High School during Monday’s regular May meeting held in the Pat Smith-Gasperson Board Room.

Included in the upgrades are new roofs over the ninth-grade wing of Marshall High School and a new roof at the district’s Administration Building located at 1305 E. Pinecrest Drive. The board also approved resurfacing of the track and Maverick Stadium as well as a resurfacing on the high school tennis courts on Maverick Drive.

The board also approved an amount not more than $85,000 to go toward the renovation and expansion of an all-sports weight room in the Y.A. Tittle Athletic Fieldhouse. The majority of the renovation project, totaling just under $198,000, will be funded by private donations already raised this spring and from proceeds from last week’s Maverick Armour Day in Maverick Stadium.

The renovations and resurfacing projects will be done by BSN Sports. Rebates back to the district under an earlier partnership agreement this spring with BSN and UnderArmour for district apparel will also allow MISD to bring back its seventh-grade football program at basically no startup cost to the district beginning next fall.

The roofing at MHS and at the Administration Building has been awarded to JGA Roofing Systems. Total cost to replace the roof of the ninth-grade wing at MHS is $229,300, with the total cost for replacing the roof at the Administration Building is $148,100.

MHS and the Administration Building will also be receiving new HVAC systems as part of the upgrades and renovations.

All the work will be done this summer and is scheduled to be completed before the start of school next fall.
