CHOW DOWN WITH THE CHIEF
The Marshall ISD Police Department began a community outreach program in 2017 called "Chow Down With the Chief," which involves District Police Chief Joe Arledge joining selected students from campuses throughout the school district for lunch. Typically on Fridays each week, Chief Arledge will arrive at the school, pick up the students, and treat them to lunch at a local restaurant of their choosing. The program was created as a reward for good students and also to allow the students and community to develop a positive relationship with local law enforcement. School administrators and teachers select their students based on leadership, good behavior, positive attitudes and academic performance.
"This program is very rewarding, as much for me as the students," Chief Arledge says. "It gives me the opportunity to spend quality time with our students. I am always looking for ways to interact with our kids and have a positive impact on the relationship between our officers and our students."
Participating restaurants in the program include:
• Golden Corral
• CiCi's Pizza
• The Jalapeno Tree
• Gucci's
• Jucy's
• Pizza Hut
• Dairy Queen
Marshall ISD and the MISD Police Department thank these local businesses for their support of our "Chow Down with the Chief" program.
