TAKS Math Challenge at J.H. Moore Elementary
Pictured are JH Moore students Matthew Neal and Carlos Montano work together to solve the math problem in the TAKS Math Challenge.
All third-graders at J. H. Moore Elementary were invited to visit the library and work with a partner to complete a TAKS Math Challenge quiz during the week of February 8 - 10.  The library staff used books in the library that displayed math terms, functions or numerals for answer selections.  Third-grade teachers Jenell Henderson, Linda Ott and Kasey Mobley assisted with selection of math concepts to be included in the challenge.  “It was a different, yet fun way to review math skills and highlight books in the library as well,” stated librarian Mary Echols.  Students who answered a high percentage of the questions correctly received a free book from Mrs. Parrish, the library assistant.
