COLLEGE PREPARATION
From the people that bring you the SAT exam comes a wonderful website regarding your college search, admissions, quest for scholarships and, of course, entrance & Advanced Placement (AP) exams. The College MatchMaker lets you search and sort by location, majors, cost, aid and more to find colleges that fit from a database of 3,800+ schools or use the QuickFinder to look up schools alphabetically. The “My College Search” feature lets you save a list of possible colleges and searches performed. Individual college profiles are extremely extensive.
College Majors 101 is an education resource dedicated to teaching students about different college majors in depth so that they can make more informed college and career choices. Unfortunately, many students do not retain past their sophomore year. At CM101 we believe this is due to the fact that so many students lack a real sense of purpose when they go to college. CM101 seeks to create more students who clearly understand why they are going to college, what they will do while they are there and where they will go afterwards.”
CampusTours has been providing virtual campus access since 1996, working with over eight hundred colleges and universities throughout the United States to promote, enhance and build virtual college tours. You can search for colleges alphabetically, by name, and by state. Links include tours, websites, maps and videos. Supporting school data on demographics, enrollment stats, admission requirements and sports programs are provided. An account must be created for full site access.
The GenTx website is part of the grassroots educational movement by the state of Texas (THECB) to get more high school students into college. This is done through the high degree of interaction users (both educators & prospective college students) enjoy with the site.
A grade-specific website designed to inspire and motivate middle and high school students to seek higher education after 12th grade using four simple steps. Several well-known national foundations maintain the site. An interactive feature lets you take a virtual tour of a campus and “enter” buildings to find out about college and academic life. Information can be put in a notebook to be printed or saved.
