The purpose of the TX GEAR UP grant is to increase college readiness, access, and success for Texas students by providing sustained academic support, comprehensive advising, and college-focused enrichment beginning in middle school and continuing through high school. Through advanced math pathways, high-impact tutoring, expanded dual credit opportunities, and structured college and career readiness models, the grant seeks to close achievement gaps and ensure students are academically prepared for postsecondary education. In addition, TX GEAR UP strengthens financial readiness by offering scholarship opportunities, FAFSA assistance, and financial literacy resources. The program also builds district capacity through professional development, data-informed practices, and aligned instruction systems ultimately creating a long-term, equitable framework that supports students and families from exploration to college enrollment and success.
