A Marshall High School teacher has been arrested and charged with having an inappropriate relationship with a student. When allegations came to the attention of Marshall ISD administration, the teacher was immediately placed on administrative leave. MISD administration  began gathering information from students, staff and family members. In accordance with the district’s protocols, Child Protective Services was quickly notified as well as the Marshall Police Department. A thorough investigation was conducted by MPD with full cooperation of Marshall ISD, leading to the arrest made today.

While uncomfortable for all involved, it is imperative we expose these situations so that the victims may receive the support they need and the perpetrators can be brought to justice.

Marshall ISD and Marshall High School Administration are working closely with the Marshall Police Department  in this investigation, and if these allegations prove true, we urge the legal system to take the strongest possible action.

“Safety of our students is the top priority of Marshall ISD. We will never tolerate any action by any employee who violates the confidence of our community through the abuse of our students. It is our highest obligation to protect  our students, and we take this responsibility very seriously,” stated Dr. Richele Langley, Superintendent of Schools.

In addition, Marshall ISD requires every employee to train annually, at the beginning of each school year, to ensure they fully understand the appropriate, safe boundaries that must be maintained between students and staff.

MISD also has a link on our website where bullying, or any other incident, may be reported either anonymously or self identified found under the “Parents” tab. Administrators will  follow up and thoroughly investigate all reports.

As this is a law enforcement matter, neither Marshall ISD nor Marshall High School can provide any additional information at this time.
